Shochiku have just opened their own YouTube channel, supposedly to help combat unauthorised uploads. A warning shot aimed at trailer bandits perhaps?

Agreed. Kadokawa have already made one for their anime product, so hopefully more companies will follow suit.

I’d feel a lot better linking to these knowing the entire channel won’t suddenly get deleted because the account owner decided to upload a Seinfeld clip on the side. Not to mention they look a whole lot nicer than the crap re-encodes of files that were only 300kbps in the first place.
As a long-time bandit in good standing I think I’ll actually replace my Shochiku trailers with embeds of these as they come out. Congrats Shochiku, you’ve half-converted at least one thieving bastard.

Say what? Kadokawa are hip with the freaky-deaky embedding scene, so why do Shochiku have to be so square, man?
Oh well, be grateful for small mercies.

Good for them. They should’ve done this a long time ago. It’s a great way to market these films not only in Japan, but abroad as well.
